Two tides a day bring the fish to us.
Vikran stands on the shore of Rystraumen. The stream carries feed through the narrows, so cod, wolffish and halibut hold within a few hundred metres of the pier, and the mountains keep the sea workable when other camps stay in.

«Compared to other fishing camps, Vikran is well protected from winds. That is why we fish twelve months a year.»
From the owners
Polar night · late Nov to late Jan, short days on the water
Season by season.
Cod
Cod bite here all year, close to the pier, in almost any weather the boats can handle. It is the reliable catch when the wind keeps other grounds closed.
Halibut
Halibut grounds start about 100 metres from the pier and stay good from March until the end of October. Fish over the legal size are released, as required by Norwegian law.
Wolffish
Wolffish season runs from February to June, on rocky bottom close to shore. Our best catch so far weighed 15.5 kilograms.
Redfish
Redfish move into deeper water in the strait from June to August, often best on the long midnight sun evenings.
Flatfish
Flatfish sit in the sandy bays on either side of the lodge through July and August, an easy catch for a slower afternoon.
Mackerel
Mackerel arrive in August and September, fast and easy to catch, and usually the children's favourite.

Where the fish are
We will always tell you where to catch fish: the spots, the drift, the tackle. Ask when you arrive.

Rent everything
Rods, reels, flotation suits and both boats are rented at the lodge, fly in with a small bag.

Polar night
Late November to late January we fish three or four hours around noon, quiet, blue, and often the best cod.
